鸱吻是中国古代建筑屋脊正脊两端的一种饰物。初作鸱尾之形，一说为蚩(一种海兽)尾之形，象征辟除火灾。后来式样改变，折而向上似张口吞脊，因名鸱吻，又称“龙吻”。在房脊上安两个相对的鸱吻，能避火灾。An ornament at both ends of the main ridge of ancient Chinese architecture.
